Ogilvy Auckland and The Foundation for Youth Development release world-first TVC featuring young people making a tv ad about themselves

The Foundation for Youth Development take practical steps in addressing the high levels of negative youth statistics in New Zealand. Its programmes give life-skills, self-confidence, motivation and opportunities to young New Zealanders aged 5-18 years.
To demonstrate this, Ogilvy enlisted the help of children in FYD programmes, and got them to create the ad. Ogilvy and Robber’s Dog provided mentoring and guidance, but the children undertook the creative, direction, writing, filming and production themselves.

I didn’t see that coming, you’d think Forrest would be fronting a Whittakers chocolate campaign, not some charity gig.
Nice rip of Jay Z rhapsody. Did you mentor the kids into biting that?? Says alot.
Thanks for your support guys, re-read the last line one more time (it’s easy)
This is taking the world first claim a bit too far really. In another world first I was posting this blog while picking my ear whilst humming the bohemian rhapsody, backwards.
World first? Ogilvy have been paying kids nothing to make ads for aaaaaaages.
I would have hoped kids were more imaginative than that. Perhaps the brief was too restrictive. While this ad *may* have been created by the kids, the script could just as easily have been tossed off by a fat 48 yo copywriter in 10 minutes after lunch. The kids look like extra in their own spot and the script reads like it was copied from the brief.
But this is nice work. It kind of needs to come paired with the making of video, which could’ve been half as long. But it’s a nice big idea that shouldn’t be judged solely on the TV.
12:14, that’s actually pretty funny.
12:14
That’s funny.

Your post is also funny.
World first my arse! which is, ask my mum. It may be the kids first time doing an ad, but you can see, even from the making of, that they were coached. It seemed that it could have gone well weird, to 2:15’s point, and just better. And yes, 12:14 bang on.
