DDB NZ brings the Chick’n McCheese back into the game with McDonald’s Facebook Wingman
To celebrate the return of the much loved Chick’n McCheese and the newly landed McWings, DDB New Zealand has developed a campaign to promote both around the notion of having a wingman.
A wingman is a role that a person takes when talking up a friend to another in order to build an attractive persona. Who doesn’t want a wingman at their side talking them up? So DDB created a virtual Wingman that you could download to your Facebook page.
Every time you made a comment, posted video or photo, the Wingman would talk you up on your Facebook wall. You could also view and follow the latest Wingman comments on the McDonald’s Facebook Page.
The campaign comprised a press ad, contextual banners and the application itself.

nice simple idea.
Tried using it a few times, was really excited, but it didn’t work sometimes and when it did it duplicated my messages over n over and then i lost the app entirely. dang.
@ 1:38 There were some technical difficulties but it’s up now 🙂
Cool idea. Everyone knows what a real life wingman does so I will be interested to see what a virtual wingman is like
Nice. I like it.
I’m a leg man myself ….
‘110,485 people like this’ holy hell. Nice.
Yeah the app’s cool, whatever – why has nobody pointed out the tenuous link to the …errr…product. DDB haven’t even bothered to mention the product it’s meant to be advertisng in the release. Small detail.
10:23… that’s how many people are fans of the McDonald’s NZ Facebook page…
the stats for the app are here…
