Sudeep Gohil’s 2011 Cannes Diary – final day from the inaugural Creative Effectiveness jury room
Sudeep Gohil, executive planning director/partner at Droga5 Sydney is Australia’s representative on the inaugural Creative Effectiveness jury. Here’s his final thoughts, exclusive to Campaign Brief.
We are done! A day early!
The thought of a room full of planning types agreeing on anything was a little frightening, but with a good nights sleep we managed to power through our remaining cases well before lunch.
From all the papers we read we managed to create a short list of 10 that were worthy of the ultimate accolade. Unfortunately, despite our strong start all of the Australian papers fell by the wayside!
Getting stuck somewhere between the scale of the US and the brutal rigour of the UK. The Australian papers were still highly rated, but the group really achieved the goal of pushing to the limit what an effectiveness paper could be.
The actual award show should be fun as the focus of the jury lead by Jean Maree Dru will probably surprise a few people as we start handing out metal.
Now that the serious business is done, time to actually have a bit of fun – maybe some sun, a bit of shopping or just a couple of drinks… Then again, maybe some sleep would be the best option!
