Can anyone tell me why, as a NZ agency, you would bother entering these awards? How does winning here have any effect on your business? I understand the allure of Award to help promote your shop as a creative powerhouse in the region. But why the Spikes?
Because, to your point about AWARD, ‘the region’ also includes the world’s fastest growing economy, Asia. Heard of the expression, Asia Pacific? Obviously not. If a little NZ agency can make a name for itself at the biggest show in Asia where most of their big multinational clients’ head office is, then the few grand you just spent on entries was probably worth it I reckon. Seriously, this kind of xenophobic thinking is really holding this country back. I reckon it’s great when kiwi agencies step up at these kinds of shows. It puts our talent and work on the world stage,
Many of the big brands are managed regionally when it comes to making key marketing decisions, so it makes sense to enter them. But its expensive so you have to be pretty sure your work is good enough.
We win the odd regional award, and regional marketing directors almost always contact us shortly afterwards. Enough said.
