Colenso BBDO, Auckland creates Tip Top Scoop app dedicated to all kiwi ice cream lovers

With the onset of another Kiwi summer, Colenso BBDO, Auckland and Tip Top developed an app dedicated to all ice cream lovers – Tip Top Scoop. This application helps users find their favourite NZ made Tip Top ice cream wherever they are.
With its Scoop Store locator feature, the app will find the Tip Top Scoop Store closest to you. The app will talk about new flavours available in store, and allows Tip Top fans to choose their favourite scoop combinations, ranking New Zealand’s most popular ice cream flavours.

I hope you guys charged a lot for this. At best, the thinking behind this is entry level student stuff.

If I was to download this app, and that is a big IF, I suspect it would simply sit on page 4 of my apps for a few months before I delete it in a fit of rage after not being able to find Angry Birds Rio amongst the clutter.
No offense to BBDO. The App looks good, and sounds like it works pretty well. The fundamental flaw here is that I as a consumer don’t care enough about Ice Cream to warrant downloading yet ANOTHER iPhone app.
I guess what I’m saying is this app assumes incorrectly I give a rat’s ass what brand of Ice Cream I buy. I don’t. If I want an Ice Cream I will walk into the nearest servo, supermarket or superette and buy one of whatever they stock.

This app is so bad, you would think an iconic brand like tip top would do something more cutting edge than a simple store finder.
As a cafe owner (and parent) it’s a good concept to allow travellers easy access to nearest Tip Top retailer…. shame i’m the only non-apple owner in NZ so my 2cents worth wont be sufficient weight to wake up the advertising community to a small alternate OS called Android….
