The Marsden Inch criteria were tough, and laid out at the beginning of the course. They needed to show that they had extraordinary creative work, as well as an extraordinary attitude – the rare combination that every creative director seeks when hiring the best talent.

This less traditional way of presenting a scholarship gave the students a real incentive to do well throughout the 40 week course and will also get them over the low or no pay placement hump.

The final judging was done by Rob Roydhouse and Jeneal Rohrback from Marsden Inch (pictured with the winning students) as well as Kate Humphries, The Adschool creative director. (Jeneal is also a part-time teacher at The Adschool).

“This year’s scholarship winners displayed all the attributes of smart, simple, well-crafted messages that achieved that 1-3 second breakthrough. The winners have also displayed, at a young age, the passion and commercial attitude so necessary to establish a successful career in the advertising industry – and we salute you mightily for that,” says Roydhouse.

The Marsden Inch Scholarship will be in place for next year’s students at the beginning of February, 2012.

“So if you wanna be up for our money, you’d better be ready to show us yours,” says Rohrback.
