Former DDB head of art Mike Davison joins Saatchi & Saatchi’s new creative collective
CB Exclusive – To kick off the New Year and his plan for the Creative Collective at Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand, executive creative director Antonio Navas has announced the hire of Mike Davison (left) and Sam Stradwick to the Saatchi & Saatchi creative department.
Davison has worked in the industry for over 20 years (starting at the age of 6 as he likes to explain). His experience includes seven years in New York, the last three of which he spent at TBWA\Chiat\Day. Until going solo in February last year, he spent six years as head of art at DDB New Zealand.
Stradwick (below left) has worked in a variety of Auckland design and ad agencies over the last few years. He brings his natural design talent to help solve daily typography, illustration, layout and branding challenges.
“I cannot think of two better travel partners to go exploring the Holy Land of art and beauty than Sam and Mike, I learn from them everyday,” says Navas.
“Antonio is making good progress with our evolving creative model and will be announcing more hires soon. Part of this plan involves a much greater degree of collaboration between the Auckland and Wellington teams,” commented CEO, Nicky Bell.

A designer as ECD, and now two new design based senior hires. I suppose Antonio’s just doing what he knows…. Which is design.
Watch the creative department at DDB start to haemorrhage.
Has he been to Northland for his holidays?
“…exploring (toke) the Holy Land of art and beauty…(big toke)”
Nice one Mike. All the best.
Design department sorted, now who’s going to write the ads?
Art and beauty… maybe it should be about ‘ideas’ that sell things.
On ya Sammy.
