Draft FCB NZ appointed lead agency on Air New Zealand; Saatchi’s also included on roster
DraftFCB New Zealand has been appointed as the lead advertising agency for Air New Zealand after a competitive pitch. Saatch & Saatchi has been included on the roster
An admired brand and often recognised and awarded for its innovation and customer service including being recently named 2012 Airline of the Year by Air Transport World, Air New Zealand will join a portfolio of other household names and iconic New Zealand and global brands at DraftFCB including Mitre 10, The National Bank, Genesis Energy, NZI, Greggs, PAK’nSAVE, and BMW.
The agency is also well known for its work with a range of Government agencies including highly awarded work for the Ministry of Health on Depression, ALAC and Family Violence.
Says Bryan Crawford, chairman and group CEO of DraftFCB in Australia and New Zealand: “We are thrilled about our new partnership with the team at Air New Zealand, and look forward to working closely with the airline in the future.”
DraftFCB will formally commence work from March 2012.
Says Saatch & Saatchi CEO Nicky Bell: “Air New Zealand is an iconic New Zealand brand that has been on the edge of what’s new, not only in their offering but in their communication as well. We are thrilled that Air New Zealand has decided to include us in their roster.
“We really enjoyed the process they ran for the pitch and getting to know their team, and we’re looking forward to getting started.”

F-ing Well Done! So many naysayers in NZ advertising when it comes to you guys. And to be fair, I think you guys do have some ‘personality issues’. But it had to be said… Fantastic news and I’m sure very well deserved in terms of the work you would have put in. BRAVO!
Why’s everyone always so thrilled. Must have quite dull lives.
Well done fcb, on a roll, and welll done scratchi’s.
How nice to see DDB and BBDO not even getting near.
Now we wait for Vodafone….
I would love to know what you’re on about Bloody. Personality issues?
Voda’s already decided.
Draft and Ogilvy, poor 99.
Just to clarify; Saatchis has retained some design business, not any of the brand. Well done to Derek for retaining the tray design and menu business.
According to a very good source, DDB totally dropped the ball on this one and did a dire job at the first round. Didn’t even get past first base. Politics and not pitches being their strong suit, I guess that’s no surprise to anyone.
Took time out of his day to write this
Nice one FCB – and WTF Saatchis? Trying to claim glory by being a roster agency?? That’s a bit sad.
WTF Saatchi.
Scrambling to steal the pitch result announcement from FCB. **Cringe**
You remain lame. Even if you did scrape the roster.
Well Done and Agree – Saatchi did not highjack this – the announcement from Air NZ, the release from DFCB and the release from S&S (justified cos they’re going to be working with Air NZ) we’re all sent out independently.
It’s CB’s decision to combine them (as did other publications), mainly because that’s probably exactly what Air NZ did in their release.
.99 Losing Air New Zealand has been a lot like losing a sick grandparent – where it is a sad and sombre time, it wasn’t unexpected, and is honestly more of a relief than anything else. But DraftFCB will discover this on March 1st. Good luck.
.99 is losing…money is walking out the door. The same money that pays wages. Not convinced everyone will be feeling relieved Air NZ has gone.
Congratulations DFCB, lovely win and real proof that the magic doesn’t walk out the door when others do. (Geez, bad luck DDB.)
Well done S&S. (The dark horse of 2012?)
DDB didnt fuck up the pitch as you stated, they pulled out as they were pitching for Qantas at the same time, and I think that havijust stolen a massive project for Telecom from S&S, that will be consuming alot of their time. Anyway, great pick up for FCB – would like to see some more iconic brand advertising from NZ, but figure Draft will just deliever more retail shit….
I hope for Saatchis sake the bit they got requires lots of designers.
Thanks Anonymous for delivering the company propaganda…
Trouble is, you and I both secretly know the truth.
(And I am convinced we’re not alone…)
Nice try anyway. 🙂
It’s gonna take a lot to top the surreal Rico campaigns. And you’ll have less budget, but well done FCB. Is that short for Futbol Club de Barcelona ? Olé….
9.30.
There, there. Calm down Sando. Must be time for your cup of tea and a lie down.
Give me the 99 phone list.
Chk chk.
Where does that leave Rico in all of this?
