CB Poll: Do you prefer the AWARD Awards theatre format or should it be a sit down dinner?

With around 800 at the glittering AWARD Awards in Sydney on Thursday night, it’s timely to revisit a far more important debate than whether too many Gold Pencils were handed out. Rather, should AWARD stick with the current theatre format or should it go back to a sit down dinner, which was the norm for most of the first 30 years of AWARD? You can vote on your computer, iPad or any smart phone.

As an aside to this trans-Tasman debate, Axis once tried to do the cinema approach, it was a disaster. Like me, everyone drank a tank-load beforehand, and by the time the craft section was over there was a steady flow of people darting off to the toilet.
But, it got worse; everyone started to sober up.
There was only one solution – dispel with the award show and head straight to the bar. Which would have been fine had the bar staff not have been made aware of the ferocious drinking abilities of adland. They were quickly overwhelmed. Fights for beer ensued.
My vote: Make it a sit-down dinner.
Award this year was the worst show i’ve ever been to.
Got one drink in before being herded inside, then sat for two hours without a drop of booze. There were definite moments when i nodded off.
Axis may be a po-dunk little show where it’s all political and everyone bitches about the results, but shit it’s a lot more fun.
