NZ bombs at Cannes Film Lions; Grand Prix goes to Chipotle ‘Back to the Start’ via CAA, LA
New Zealand failed to win a single Lion at the Cannes Film Lions, awarded tonight at the Palais de Festivals
Australia fared slightly better: Publicis Mojo, Sydney scored a rare Gold Lion for its Hahn Super Dry ‘Super In. Super out” spot, one of only 11 awarded on the night.
DDB Sydney scored a Bronze Lion for the Volkswagen Tiguan ‘Cross Country’ spot.
Only 70 spots worldwide made metal this year. Controversially the Grand Prix went to Chipotle ‘Back to the Start’ via Creative Artists Agency, Los Angeles, beating highly fancied favourites Canal + ‘Bear’ and Guardian ‘Three Little Pigs’.

Ghost Chips? Pedigree?
Ghost chips is great, but not necessarily Cannes bait. Multi-national and multi-lingual juries tend to go for the visual stuff.
Or it was a victim of block-voting. One of the two.
