Curious to screen Cannes 2012 Grand Prix winner ‘Reality’ at NZ International Film Festival
Curious Film is proud to announce three films selected into this year’s New Zealand International Film Festival, including Curious distributed Cannes 2012 Grand Prix winner ‘Reality’, which premieres for the first time in the region this Wednesday 4pm at Event Cinema Queen Street, Auckland.
The festival runs until August 5, 2012.
Reality, by director Matteo Garrone (Gomorrah 2008), plunges the audience headlong into celebrity mania. It’s an energetic satire of the transforming power of television’s affect on lead character Luciano whilst auditioning for Big Brother. The film plays twice again at this year’s festival – Civic Theatre, Wednesday 9:15pm and Bridgeway, the 5th of August 6pm
Night Shift, a short film by Curious director Zia Mandviwalla, played to a sold-out festival audience Saturday and tells the story of an airport cleaner named Salote. The film also screened at Cannes this year and will screen once again at Sky City, as part of the NZ Best Shorts Competition.
Curious’ third film, Policeman, directed by Nadav Lapid, screens at Event Queen St. 8:45pm Wednesday. Policeman follows the journey of police officer Yaron and his unit as they encounter a radical and violent group within the Israeli class war.
