Entries now open for the 2012 New Zealand Direct Marketing Awards – entry deadline 5pm Fri Oct 26
Entries for the all new NZ Direct Marketing Awards are now open till 5pm Friday, October 26th.
For 26 years the RSVP and Nexus Awards have been the only awards that recognise clients, agencies, consultancies and suppliers who have exhibited excellence in insight-driven marketing projects and campaigns, connected with customers on an individual basis and generated outstanding results.
This year the awards went through an industry- wide review headed up by Ben Goodale, chairman of the Marketing Association’s Agencies’ Council and the result is a whole new structure and a new name. The RSVP and Nexus Awards will now be known as the New Zealand Direct Marketing Awards.
Says Goodale: “During this review it became apparent that as the awards celebrate everything to do with direct marketing, we needed a name that reflects this, as well as fighting to give New Zealand a truly international-quality local awards show that I hope everyone will be proud to support.”
Says Sue McCarty, MA chief executive: “Not only have we had a name change but the RSVP section of the awards has had a major review leading to some big changes. Categories have been redefined to include industry sectors as well as specialist channels and an expanded judging panel will ensure the highest of standards. The Nexus categories and judging have remained the same and as robust as ever.”
Now the call for entries for the all-new New Zealand Direct Marketing awards is officially open. A multitude of industry sector categories will enable entries to be judged alongside others from within the same industry sector. Campaigns can also be entered into multiple channel categories which now reflect the multi-channel market we work. The craft categories still remain with a couple of changes. The Nexus awards continue to recognise excellence in creating the foundations on which measurable direct campaigns are based.
Two new awards have been introduced: the first is the Direct Marketer of the Year award, recognising an individual who has celebrated, advocated or otherwise advanced the use of direct marketing within their organisation and/or wider industry. The Keith Norris Award for the Direct Marketing Organisation of the Year will celebrate the achievement of success through using direct marketing techniques to drive ROI for the business, and honours the long-time CEO of the former NZDMA.
The entry and registration process has also changed, with the introduction of a new online registration portal and simpler entry forms.
Says Goodale: “The one thing that hasn’t changed with the awards is an unashamed focus on measurable results. Entries only need to prove that the campaign directly drove results, and they’ll do well.”
With all-new categories to suit every type of direct marketing campaign, this year presents more opportunities than ever for entrants to have their work recognised and what’s more all Gold Winners of the Industry and Channel Awards are eligible to go straight through to Round 2 of the international ECHO Awards, bypassing the elimination stage.

Doesn’t matter what you call it. It’s still boring and no one cares. ‘Best fulfilment of a direct mail pack’ anyone?
