Fly Buys launches new commercial via Clemenger BBDO NZ, Flying Fish and Psyop
Clemenger BBDO New Zealand, Psyop and Flying Fish create an extraordinary parallel universe in their latest work for Fly Buys “Something A Little Bit Good.”
The spot takes place between two worlds — a mundane grocery store and an enchanted animal kingdom. Every time a Fly Buys points card is swiped at the checkout counter, the scenery transitions from the drab market setting to a fantasy jungle populated by whimsical, photoreal animals.
Psyop shot the live action in New Zealand and directed the 3D animation throughout the spot, making sure each animal has its own personality while building a world that’s tangible to viewers. MPC was brought in early on to help with the CG creatures, general visual effects needs and color grading.

Mundane grocery store? Bet New World were happy about that
Nice try but I would have expected a lot more from Psyop. Very average.
And Mitre 10 and Noel Leeming:) Must have been a suit who wrote the PR release:) ha ha
Yea…I agree with Hmmmm…the birds are nice and the giraffe….but the rest is very average…
This is awful. Shocking. What’s happening BBDO???
I do not understand this piece of communication, but some of the animals are beautiful. Especially the giraffe and the chimp.
Why are the shops drab and what is the rationale behind the butterfly effect of swiping a fly buys card and whimsical moments with wildlife?
really weird from Clems, generally great execution is their strong suit.
definitely not this time.
I like it. I guess everyone’s struggling because it’s actually got a bit of thought involved.
Sorry the other Aucklanders are dicks, they work at DDB.

Errr, the brand positioning maybe…
Great ad, really well executed. Just a bit of jealousy from some people I reckon.
It’s just another advert. Nothing more. Nice to have an idea present, but doesn’t quite add up. Why good things for animals? No real benefit to swiping for consumer. I guess it’s just a bit of butterfly effect style fun, but logic seems a bit out.
@Auckland – you’re a junior and a dick.
It perfectly captures the product benefit. Something tiny happens somewhere that no one ever sees or notices. I’ve had a card for about 100 years and have enough points to buy a sausage.
But I digress. Cool animals.
