No asses harmed in the making of this commercial: 8com launches new TV spot for New Zealand labour provider Allied Work Force
New Zealand labour provider, Allied Work Force, has just released a brand new television commercial via 8com.
The spot, directed by 8com’s Andy Morton, follows the dedicated Allied Work Force team responding to an unlikely emergency, with straight-faced determination. Action movie conventions are parodied with shots of the fleet in all their glory, large convoys of vehicles on the move, not to mention the scale of the rescue itself.
Says Morton: “I thought it was a great opportunity to ply my hand at some serious, straight down the line drama.”

40 seconds of setup, so you could say “you really saved my ass”.
Swan-song?
Duck-fart.
Oh, what a feeling.
Oh my god…..and direct for a client?
Agency was Publicis Auckland
Run to the hills, run for your liveeeeesssssss!
Agency was Publicis Auckland. Yes it was, wasn’t it.
Wow. That is just…awful.
There are no words to describe how bad this is.
I think this should be used as a case study as to why client’s NEED Ad Agencies.
Feels like Allied Work Force made this themselves! Was this direct to client? Was the director blackmailed to do it?
Genuinely curious here. Why are people saying this was done direct for client? There is an agency name on it. Or what was an agency name until recently. Obviously no creatives are owning up to it, but then who would?
I thought it was really silly, BUT i laughed at the end…
In true it was so silly it actually works…
Good on them….
It bet it helps there business…
LOOK……*I* didn’t see what was so wrong with the ad – OTHER than that it was so bad it was SILLY, as user “Context” mentioned – and YES, BECAUSE OF THAT, IT DOES WORK. =D He is right. But, what REALLY gets MY goat, is that when the ad came on this evening, at 9:55pm, the word “ass” was “beeped out” – now that REALLY annoyed me, as now the ad doesn’t make SENSE. =P What’s wrong with the word “ass”? It was the KEY CONCEPT of this ad, and NOW some prudes have decided to have it taken away. WHAT is WRONG with these people? They need to get OVER themselves. Seriously. There ARE worse words to use. =P
