Toyota’s new RAV4 brings out the adventure in everyone in new spot via Saatchi & Saatchi NZ
This week saw the launch of the new Toyota RAV4 campaign, which celebrates the inherently adventurous spirit in all Kiwis via Saatchi & Saatchi NZ.
The TVC, launched on 1st April, tells the story of a Toyota dealer and a prospective customer who decide to take a little detour from the standard test-drive.
The television spot forms part of an integrated campaign, which talks to the potential for adventure in all of us. The adventure expands to Adshels, National Press, digital banners, point of sale and an ongoing social and direct strategy.
Says Slade Gill, creative director, Saatchi & Saatchi and Brad Collett, art director, Saatchi & Saatchi: “At the heart of the campaign is this idea that adventure doesn’t have to exclusively reside in tropical jungles or on some icy tundra. Adventure is about making a tiny change to your daily routine because something awesome might come of it…okay, and it’s about joyrides.”

Meh.
Lovely spot – a potential classic – But how hell do you get away with that slamming piss with the local gangsters scene?!. Surely someone’s going to have some kind of fit about that ? Or is there something I was supposed to download for my phone that i missed?
Rad!
huh? Where did the wife suddenly come from?
Funny, good work Blade
Funny.
Didn’t need the wife at the end though.
Pretty ho-hum. Big fan of the Corolla and Camry spots, but this just feels like a tired cliche and almost a direct copy of a certain scene out of ‘Due Date’.
VW Golf, Mitsi Mirage & Holden brand spots are far stronger out of the auto TVCs right now.
Not funny – they just look like a couple of social retards. Maybe that’s funny or maybe I’m missing something.
Mitsi mirage? That stuff is rubbish. By saying that your comment means nothing.
Blade!!!!! Nice one
Good work team
Like the Huhu grub scene
Social retards have never been ripe comic material. Ever.
I really liked this advertisement. I bet the extras in the advertisement were really good and didn’t STARE RIGHT INTO THE CAMERA on the shoot. Nice one BLADE.
@ReallyPanda?
Matter of opinion ofcourse, but I just feel the hooplah for the TV element of this campaign is a little over the top. Big budget, yes. But not in the same style class as Corolla. Online elements for this campaign are neat, TV for me… not so much.
As I said I enjoyed a number of car ads in the market this year more than this – and yes probably the same ones you think are rubbish.
Nice work Leo. Again.
Its ok … that is all. Big budget but not a great story. Not told brilliantly either. Sorry.
I’ll have a Holden thanks.
WHO LET THE CLIENT PUT THE CHICK IN AT THE END – POOR SUITING!
They obviously picked up the ‘chick’ on the way too.
Judging by her messy hair and flushed cheeks she got a joyride too.
Good stuff.
Wow this is…………. Average at best.
come on. this could’ve been MIIIIILESSS better.
looks like it cost about $3 with a rubbish grade
The woman appearing at the end is odd. Where did she come from? Are you suggesting a Rav4 will help you pick up women, or just showing there’s room for a panda and a person? Why did the woman not participate in any of the ad, does not work for me, seems a bit demeaning, the woman waits in the car??
Seems a bit demeaning to women, why is she stuck in the back under a stray dog nd huge cuddly toy?
