main-logo.jpgToday the TVNZ NZ Marketing Awards partners, Marketing Association (MA) and NZ Marketing magazine officially opened the call for entries to the 2013 Awards with the deadline set to close on Friday, May 24 at 5pm.

For 22 years these awards have been the only awards that celebrate and focus on the essential business disciplines, and the business benefit of great marketing.

Says Vincent Heeringa, NZ marketing magazine: “The Marketing Awards have always brought a unique offering celebrating the strategy that enables ideas to be born rather than reward for individual ads or creative executions, which is the tendency of other awards. The real focus of storytelling still remains the key cut-through for entrants and we encourage clients to enlist the support and help from their agencies with their entry if required.”

Last year saw the introduction of eight new categories and an impressive 49% increase in the number of entries and a 32% increase in the number of unique entries.

Says Sue McCarty, MA’s chief executive and convener of judges: “The increase in the number of entries confirms that these awards are one that marketers would be proud to win and the recognition as a marketing leader amongst their peers within their field is invaluable, and I hope to see some of the newer categories added last year such as Automotive, Technology, Export, Finance and Banking and Utilities and Communications, show a stronger entry presence this year like the traditional FMCG and retail categories do.”

Continuing on from the success of last year the categories remained unchanged with a total of thirteen Industry awards, six Judges’ Choice awards and the increasingly popular individual awards, dedicated to those individuals demonstrating a great commitment and contribution to marketing excellence in New Zealand.

The Industry Awards acknowledge the marketing initiatives and/or projects that are clear examples of marketing leadership and success within each of the Industry sectors, whereas the Judges’ Choice Awards recognise excellence in specific disciplines of marketing regardless of the industry. Both awards are judged by a line-up of senior marketers and CEO’s.

Says McCarty: “The three individual awards – Rookie Marketer of the Year, Marketer of the Year and the Marketing Excellence Award awarded to the CEO of the organisation, are Awards that are of immense value to any marketer wishing to demonstrate their dedication and commitment to marketing. With Air New Zealand and Rob Fyfe former CEO, taking out the inaugural Marketing Excellence Award, the bar has been set high”.

Heading up the sponsor line-up again this year is TVNZ, along with the sponsors Fairfax Media, Colmar Brunton, Boston Digital, &some, BrandWorld, Morton Estate, News Works, New Zealand Trade & Enterprise and Mailshop.

Entries close Friday 24 May 2013 at 5pm. An extended ‘late entries’ deadline of 5pm on Friday 31 May is available (at a nominal fee). More information on applying for late entry is available at the awards website: www.everythingmarketing.co.nz.
