DraftFCB NZ’s Freddie Coltart and Matt Williams win May ORCA for AS Colour Apparel campaign

P1000447.jpgIn the first round of a brand new ORCA year, DraftFCB NZ’s Freddie Coltart (left) and Matt Williams (right) took the May ORCA for their ‘Buy Blank‘ campaign for AS Colour Apparel.

The campaign pokes a stick at some of the best t-shirt clichés and the people who wear them. There’s the seminal grunge band t-shirt, the bad ass black skull t-shirt and the brightly coloured surfer t-shirt with a label sitting on top of a radical left-hand break. Moral of the story: Don’t let your clothes say too much. Buy them blank.

Judges’ comments included: “Nice ‘slice of life’ observation. We’ve all thought something like this.” “Nice writing – conjured up some vivid visuals.”

Coltart and Williams now go through to compete at the Grande ORCAs for the trip to the Cannes Lions and cash prizes. They also host the brand new Martin Hoorspool trophy and get $500, certificates and a $5,000 radio schedule for AS Colour Apparel.

Entries close on the 15th of each month.

Thanks to this month’s judges: Josh Lancaster & Jamie Hitchcock (Assignment Group), Philip Andrew (Clemenger BBDO) and Kate Humphries (Media Design School).
