Please stop asking ‘punters’ to do things. This is even worse than Beetleing.
Can I ask that someone at least does the hardcore porn version of the chant – use your imagination, could be quite visually arresting. Might at least make brands think twice about opening themselves up to audience participation. Agree with Cringe on this one – surely engagement advertising must have more to offer.
As someone who loves the McDonald’s brand deeply I feel privileged to be called upon to engage meaningfully with it. I’ve added them on facebook because I count them as a friend or acquaintance rather than faceless fast food conglomerate. And I’m more than willing to spend my free time making content for them. I totally do it out love and not because they bribed me with a free Big Mac. But I feel good when I do spend what little money I have on their food because I know I’m helping their global profits soar. And the best thing is that now I have a voice as a consumer and I’m being empowered as an individual by reciting a corporate jingle and sharing it with other empowered individuals. Great advertising guys.
Isn’t ‘punters’ such a dismissive derogatory term to talk about those who pay for our lives. An arrogant description from adwankers. In truth a punter is a bet maker.
Sing the ‘Two all beef patties…’ song and get a free Big Mac was one of McD’s most successful campaigns in the States over 35 years ago. It was ‘interactive’ before the web.

It is a no-brainer to update it for the web. It will probably do as well now as it did then.
It manages to be both a brand campaign and a sales promo, which is good going.
They get people to willingly memorize the product ingredients (the ones they want you to know about anyway), and they make a profit on the free Big Macs because no one just buys a Big Mac.
‘Punter’ is also just English slang for ‘customer’. Certainly nothing worth getting your knickers in a twist about.
