David Hoath, one of Australia’s most experienced media executives will be joining APN New Zealand Media as group advertising director.
Originally from the United Kingdom, Hoath has led both newspaper and radio sales teams and was most recently chief operating officer of Fairfax Media (AU), responsible for the profit performance of The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald and The Canberra Times.
Announcing his appointment, Martin Simons CEO of APN New Zealand Media says Hoath was a standout in a field of high quality applicants from New Zealand, Australia and the UK.
Says Simons: “David has the right experience to lead our multimedia sales team into 2014 and beyond. He will play a key role in APN’s integrated sales approach, working closely with The Radio Network and our other partners to build strong client relationship and drive revenue.”
Hoath’s UK media career has included stints as sales director for GWR Group, Britain’s largest owner/operator of commercial radio licenses, and as group advertising sales director of the Newsquest Media Group, a major newspaper publisher in the UK.
He was also one of Fairfax’s most active senior executives in the digital space and understands how to develop strong audience engagement across all channels.
Hoath’s strong multi-media experience and his approach to building teams and leading in the market with ideas, make him ideally suited to take the lead sales role for APN New Zealand Media.
Hoath will join APN New Zealand Media on 13 November and report to Simons.
