Media Design School’s AdSchool graduate Jake Barnes lands 7-month gig at W+K Amsterdam
Media Design School’s Adschool graduate Jake Barnes (left) is departing DDB New Zealand after being selected globally as one of five creatives to fill a coveted spot at Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam.
Graduating in 2011 with the DDB scholarship, Barnes has been with DDB for the past two years. Wieden+Kennedy will cover Barnes’ travel expenses and will provide accommodation for his seven-month gig.
AdSchool is also celebrating graduates Nicole Hetherington and Simon Fowler following the news that the campaign ‘The Most Powerful Arm’ for Save Our Sons and The Duchenne Foundation featuring the world’s first petition-signing robot won a black pencil at this year’s D&AD awards. The pair, who work at Havas PR in Sydney, came up with the concept to raise awareness of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy – a debilitating disease occurring in young males, resulting in death by the age of 25.
AdSchool is also congratulating its graduates Ben Polkinghorne and Anna Stickley, who picked up a yellow pencil for Trial by Timeline for Amnesty International via Colenso BBDO.

Nice one jake. Forget about Burgundy, i love you nearly as much as i love lamp
I give a fu*k, “Ron Burgundy”. Because from what I’ve seen of him, Jake Barnes is the kind of smart, talented, and decent person that we need more of in our industry, to save us from the bitter, anonymous likes of you.
