Angus Hennah quits ECD role at Ogilvy
CB Exclusive – After two years in the role CB can reveal that Angus Hennah has quit the ECD gig at Ogilvy New Zealand.
“I am really proud of the work I have overseen, particularly the work for Rebel Sport, Holden, WWF and NZ Forest & Bird. I will miss the talented people I have worked with, wish Ogilvy all the best and hope they go from strength to strength,” says Hennah.
“My first step will be to take a break then I look forward to exploring new and exciting opportunities.”
Adds Ogilvy NZ managing director Greg Partington: “We wish Angus all the best for his future. I would like to thank Angus for his hard work and the contribution he has made to our creative product.”
Hennah took the role in 2012 after the departure of Damon O’Leary at the end of 2011. Prior to that he was ECD at JWT Sydney for five years before returning to his homeland New Zealand.
Hennah has been awarded at all major and local creative shows including multiple Cannes Lions across Film, Cyber, Outdoor and Media categories. Throughout his career, Hennah has worked on many high profile brands including Nestlé, Kellogg’s, Nokia, Unilever, Energizer-Schick, Ford, AMP, Tourism New Zealand, Land Transport New Zealand, HSBC and The National Bank.

I have no idea what he’s going to do (everyone seems to have clammed up), but I have to say that considering the ‘style’ that governs Ogilvy, I thought he did a pretty good job.

The truth is Ogilvy have/had some of the best talent in the country, it’s all stifled by the man at the top.
There is only one ECD at Ogilvy. Judge, jury and executioner.
Until Sir Martin and STW see profits drop no one will make any long term change here.

Not sure that there was any real improvement in the work. Its a tough gig that one. Good effort though.
