CD Scott Henderson departs Y&R to launch strategic + creative consultancy in Wellington
After three years as Wellington creative director, Scott Henderson is leaving Y&R NZ to launch his own independent strategic and creative consultancy based in Wellington.
Originally Henderson worked at Clemenger BBDO and then moved to Saatchi & Saatchi Wellington where he was associate CD for three years. Henderson then moved to Y&R Wellington to fill the role as CD at the beginning of 2012.
The last three to four years has seen Y&R’s Wellington office go from strength to strength with strong financial growth, a raft of new clients, significant management hires and gongs from both local and international shows for work on behalf of The Co-operative Bank, MetService, The Tomorrow Project and EQC.
Says Henderson: “It’s been great to see the change in the Wellington agency over the last three years – and to be a part of the broader transformation of Y&R NZ. The agency has a fantastic momentum – so the decision to leave is more about pursuing new opportunities, and new ways of working, outside the full-service agency model.”
Says Tim Ellis, managing director – Wellington, Y&R NZ: “Scott has made a huge contribution to the agency since his arrival at the start of 2012. His knowledge of the market, strong strategic ability, and determination to deliver great work, have helped us create a lot of momentum and build a fantastic client base in Wellington.”
Henderson goes with the best wishes of the agency and will remain a close friend to Y&R NZ in the small but vibrant Wellington market. More details of Henderson’s new venture will be announced after he finishes with the agency in late March.
Y&R NZ will be making an announcement about Henderson’s replacement in the coming weeks.
