One Show announces first round of winners: NZ scores 3 Gold Pencils, 4 Silver + 1 Bronze Pencil
The One Club has just announced the winners for the 43rd Annual One Show Awards in Print & Outdoor, Design, Direct, Branded Entertainment, Responsive Environments and Public Relations. Hosted by actor and comedian Michael Ian Black, The One Show awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze Pencils at Gotham Hall in New York City.
New Zealand has scored three Gold Pencils, four Silver Pencils and one Bronze Pencil. Y&R NZ leads the Kiwi pack with the agency scoring a Gold Pencil in Print & Outdoor for Burger King ‘McWhopper‘; a Silver Pencil in Branded Entertainment for Burger King ‘Do-it-yourself McWhoppers’ and a Silver in Direct for Burger King ‘McWhopper Open Letter’. DDB NZ has scored a Gold in Design and Silver in Branded Entertainment for SKY TV ‘Unforgotten Soldiers‘. Colenso BBDO has scored a Gold Pencil in Direct and a Silver Pencil in Print & Outdoor for Volkswagen ‘Reduce Speed Dial‘. FCB NZ has scored a Bronze Pencil in the Print & Outdoor category for Paper Plus Stories ‘Read Better Stories – Gym‘.
There were 282 Pencils awarded – 76 Gold, 95 Silver and 111 Bronze – to winners from 27 countries. Six Best in Discipline winners were also announced.
Says Kevin Swanepoel, CEO, The One Club: “Not only is Best in Discipline the top piece of work in an entire discipline, it is also up for contention for Best of Show. This year, The One Show received more than 20,000 entries. Only 14 of them won Best in Discipline, representing the elite work at The One Show.”

Design:
“Nameless Paints” for Kokuyo by Dentsu / Tokyo
Direct:
“The Interactive Form” for CANAL+ by BETC + BETC / Digital / Paris.
Branded Entertainment:
“#NOTCOMINGSOON” for Remy Cointreau / Louis XIII by FF / New York + Moonwalk / New York.
Responsive Environments:
“The Last Shot” for Jordan Brand by AKQA / San Francisco + LOS YORK / Los Angeles.
Public Relations:
“Inspiring Spirit” for Scoot by Saatchi & Saatchi / Singapore + Sweeney Vesty / Singapore + Publicis / Singapore.
One Show winners in film, interactive, cross-platform, IP, social media, mobile, UX/UI and radio will be announced on Friday, along with special awards, including Best of Show, Penta Pencil, Agency of the Year, Network of the Year, Client of the Year, Holding Company of the Year and Green Pencil.
Friday’s ceremony will take place at Cipriani Wall Street.

Especially when you see that all of Australia only managed a single gold!
Good to see kiwi creativity continuing to be recognised as some of the best in the world. Well done to all involved.
And the gold from Oz was also Y&R, they are killing it.
