The Sweet Shop director Mark Albiston shoots new spot for ANZ about friendship via FCB NZ
Based around the Kiwi notion of ‘no invite necessary’, highly acclaimed director Mark Albiston, represented by The Sweet Shop, is behind ANZ’s new brand film entitled ‘Trampoline’ via FCB New Zealand.
Telling the story of a growing relationship between two kids, Fynn and Arty the spot opens on an early morning scene. Arty sits in her bedroom window doing her homework, when she notices a small head bobbing up and down, smiling at her cheekily through the window. It’s Fynn, a complete stranger who’s about her age and weirdly in her backyard, jumping on her trampoline.
Built on the engaging natural performances of the child actors, Fynn breaks the ice by calling out to Arty and we watch their disjointed conversation transform into friendship.
Says Albiston: “I love this script as it’s about peeling back a layer of cynicism and re-discovering what New Zealand is all about. We’re a nation that’s always welcomed each other, that’s always got its front door open. No invite necessary. And who better to bring this authenticity and instantaneous interaction to life, than kids.”
Says Fiona King, managing director, The Sweet Shop New Zealand: “Getting the casting right was always going to be the key to this campaign and letting the casting process shape the final film. The campaign really plays to Mark’s strengths – his ability to recapture the importance of relationship through which we see things more clearly.”

What has this got to do with anything, let alone banking? It’s just a nicely shot bit of film.
The creatives / planners missed the mark on this brief. Can we please just go back to banks telling us how they can help us save, invest or even spend money…in a story telling way.
The long bow link is made painfully obvious when the big blue end frame and pneumonic gate crash on at the end. WTF
This isn’t about the ad; it’s about a client that doesn’t have confidence in their roster agency.
This ad is a good example of what not to do when teaching children about personal safety. Doesn’t make me want to change over to ANZ.
