The Work 2023 Contenders: Special
Campaign Brief recognises and showcases the great work that is being produced in the region with The Work 2023 Contenders…
Kathmandu: Summer Never Sleeps
Special
Summer Never Sleeps is a film that encourages outdoors enthusiasts to cram in every ‘out there’ adventure they can this summer, by waving goodbye to sleep.
With its power over us gone, the symbols of slumbering get repurposed. Pillows become campfire marshmallows, nocturnal animals are your best mates and sheep nod off counting humans.
Day turns into night and back into day, as simply as a merman flipping a switch. And even when you finally crawl into your tent – normally the end of the day – you find it’s actually a portal to a cave party, being DJ’d by an owl.
Partners Life: The Last Performance
Special
Life insurance company, Partners Life, seamlessly integrated themselves into the country’s most popular ‘murder mystery’ TV show, ‘The Brokenwood Mysteries,’ by using the show’s dead characters as spokespeople. In every episode someone dies and ends up in the morgue where their cause of death is determined. So, after the last scene and before the credits, we cut back to the morgue where our dead characters awoke to stress the importance of having life insurance, as they reflected on their lives and deaths. New Zealand’s major newspaper called it, “A clever example of how brands are using television more creatively.”
Education New Zealand: Te Kākahou
Special
The graduation gown currently worn in New Zealand, and all over the world, is a symbol of education that dates back to over 900 years ago. Since then, education has become more progressive, and inclusive – but what we wear to celebrate our educational achievements remains stuck in the past. In a world first, Education New Zealand brought tradition, innovation, and indigenous culture together to create Te Kākahu Hou – a new graduation gown. The design is a symbol of what sets the New Zealand education experience apart from every other education offering in the world.
It reflects the connection to Te Ao Māori that defines our education experience through the key values of manaakitanga (our welcoming nature) and kaitiakitanga (our care for the environment).
Each also feature a personalised Poutama pattern, symbolising the steps of our learning journeys. The kākaku are gifted to graduating students from all cultures and used to showcase a New Zealand education to prospective international students.
Wellington City Mission: The Silent Night
Special
The Wellington City Mission were anticipating a dramatic increase in demand for their services for the upcoming Christmas Period. To meet this demand, they created a crowd-less public fundraising event hosted by Sky Stadium that people bought tickets to but didn’t attend. In doing so, every dollar spent on tickets would go towards the various initiatives the Wellington City Mission run to ensure all Wellingtonians would be cared for this Christmas. The event was run like any other event at the stadium, which promotion through OOH, digital, and radio – and tickets made available for purchase through online ticketing platform Ticketek.
