Special + Scoundrel take out Agency of the Year + Production Company of the Year at Ciclope Asia
Special New Zealand has taken out the Agency of the Year title at CICLOPE Asia and Scoundrel has been named Production Company of the Year.
CICLOPE is one of Asia-Pacific’s biggest production awards and honours the most well-crafted work from across the region. Recognizing and awarding the work of professionals within the different categories such as direction, animation, visual effects, cinematography, editing and music video, among others.
After two rounds of judging, in which the executive jury discussed the winning entries, top producers and creatives chose the most well-crafted commercials, short films and music videos in the Asia-Pacific region.
The jury awarded just two Grand Prix. The first one was for ‘Summer Never Sleeps’ for Kathmandu, directed by Daniel Warwick, produced by Scoundrel and created by Special New Zealand.
The second big trophy of the night went to Tae-Mong for Maria Fertility Hospital, directed by Yohan Jang, produced and created by Paulus.
Scoundrel and Special were also winners in both the ‘Direction – 90seconds and under’ and ‘Music’ categories, as well as collecting a further 4 shortlists.
Scoundrel also picked up awards for Toyota Corolla ‘Metalmorphosis’ in Animation and Hyundai Brand ‘Have You Tried It’ in Visual Effects.
Finch and DDB Aotearoa were the only other winners from New Zealand, in the ‘Low Budget’ section for ‘Correct the Internet’ as well has collecting a shortlist.

Based on a points system where all credited companies receive 1 (one) point for a finalist submission, 3 (three) points for an awarded entry and 7 (seven) points for a Grand Prix, CICLOPE Asia named Scoundrel as ‘Production Company of the Year’ and Special New Zealand as ‘Agency of the Year’.
