Axis shortlist: DDB leads the agency pack
DDB New Zealand, the newly crowned Campaign Brief NZ Agency of the Year, leads the agency pack at the shortlist stage of the 2010 Axis Awards. Not counting craft, DDB has 70 finalists, well ahead of second placed Colenso BBDO with 48 finalists. Further back is Saatchi & Saatchi and DraftFCB with 17 finalists each, followed by Special with 13 and TBWA\Whybin with 12 finalists.
Other shops with finalists are: Clemenger BBDO, Wellington (6), AIMProximity (5), Ogilvy (5), Publicis Mojo (2), Rapp (2), Shine (2), Y&R (2), JWT (1), .99 (1), Barnes Catmur (1), Republik (1) and Big Communications(1).
The number of entries were up by 40 on 2009.
DDB Group executive creative director Toby Talbot is suitably impressed by this year’s tally: “DDB Group has outdone itself. I’m so thrilled for all parts of our business who have all contributed to this amazing tally. Winning Campaign Brief Agency of the Year was a good start to the week. 72 finalists at your local show isn’t a bad way to round off your Tuesday. Hopefully by Friday we will have achieved world domination.”
Thepreliminary judging has been carried out by some of New Zealand’sleading creatives and now the finalists have been sent off to theinternational panel. Things are building nicely towards a vintage AXISweek including the Creative Function on Wednesday 24 March (for tickets click here) and the 30th AXIS Award show on Thursday 25 March, to be held at Orams Boat Park, Beaumont Street.
The30th AXIS Show is going to be a hot ticket item and will quicklysell-out. Tickets are going to be in the first instance made availableto agencies reflecting the number of entries they have placed, then itwill be opened up to an allocation to all other CAANZ members.

Hey 7:07. It’s their, not there. Bet you’re one of the tards in the other 1%.
Toby you selfish bastard. What happened to sharing?
Learning how to spell ‘their’ might be a good start
You’ll have to forgive my retarded brother who jumped onto my computer at 7.07 this morning.
Whenever I read these finalist lists it always makes me think it would be better if you could only enter in a limited number of categories.
It’s their, not there, genius.
Great validation for DDB getting agency of the year. Domination.
OMG……..LOL @ DA SPELLING >_
Dear can’t spell, can’t count. A correction.
DDB 35% Colenso 25% Rest 45%
Want a pie chart bitch?
How bout a Hot Yacht Pie chart? The_Hammer’s got one. Hidden in his bulge.
I want a Hot Yacht pie.
The_Hammer
that’s 105%. Beyatch.
Where is the list of judges and how many work at the agencies with the most finalists?
7:07 Maybe some agencies don’t want to join CAANZ and chase awards. They could be more concerned about their client’s business.
2 LEGIT!! TO QUIT!!
Domination yes, dominated by legitimacy issues yes.
