The Sweet Shop director Melanie Bridge creates a colourful spectrum of fantasy in latest spot for Dulux ‘Weather’ via Clemenger BBDO Wellington
What if paint samples gave you a peek into the future? Just a quick little journey where you could see how your house looks in any weather, in any color and in any storm?
In this spot for Dulux paint, director Melanie Bridge takes her signature style in a new direction by blending the fantastic with the real. Embarking on what seems like a stop motion house painting adventure, Bridge creates a fun spot that blurs the lines between handcrafted animation and quirky computer animation.
Says Bridge: “The key thing that we always had to ask ourselves was whether it was believable that it had been created for real. We wanted it to look like the couple had actually painted and stop-framed the animation on their house themselves.”

Please.
Cute. Beautifully done. Love it. Good job to all involved.
But, the female talent in the ad is the same talent from that totally unrealistic Westpac Home Loan ad – you know the one, the Gen Yers buying that $1.4 million Ponsonby/Grey Lynne villa set on a tiny 500 sq/m section with no garage.
Thank God that account up for pitch.
That’s it, the only negative thing I have to say.
On a positive note, I really like the music. Reminds me of an LTNZ ad…
And? Welcome to 2012 filmcraft…
Stick to the road Wellington.
like it and i liked it last year when it was first done
i think this is a great ripped idea for the client but really poorly executed – why not just go get blu himself if your going to spend that kind of money – great stolen idea really badly done – back to school please
Like it but clearly a lot of post etc and that girl is awful…..
Same technique as the Blu Blu animations but applied well. A much needed departure from the cliche couple choosing paint colours with their dog. Nice work Melanie.
