Colenso BBDO Auckland pips GPY&R Melbourne for ‘Australasian King of Cannes 2012’ title
Colenso BBDO, Auckland led the Australasian agency pack in terms of Lions won at this year’s Cannes Festival of Creativity.
Colenso BBDO took home 12 Lions, ahead of George Patterson Y&R Melbourne and Whybin\TBWA Sydney with 8 apiece.
GPY&R Melbourne won the most Gold Lions during the week, taking home 4, ahead of Colenso BBDO with 3 and Whybin\TBWA Sydney with 2.
The most interesting development at this year’s Festival was the rise of Ogilvy Sydney, which was placed fourth in Australasia, winning seven Lions – the biggest haul in its history, until only two years ago having to put up with the Singo ‘no awards’ mantra since the early 90s.
Australia won a record 59 Lions this year, almost three times the NZ total of 20.

Why you didn’t put on what categories you won? Because you didn’t get any Lion on the major ones (film and press)? New Zealand sucks and it will always suck if you don’t start hiring overseas talent.
Film and press? Did you write that comment in 1993 on a computer with a really slow internet connection and it just showed up now? Titanium & Integrated, Branded Content, Promo, Media, Cyber – these are the categories that matter in TWO-THOUSAND-AND-TWELVE. I can’t believe I actually need to write that down.
You suck
She’s a lot of foreign fukkers here mate already.
Look at what won in press and outdoor and compare that work to other categories…
Are Colenso really leading the pack with less gold and more bronze than George Pats?
